Off for a short holiday, I think, before a new job

I'm off to The Dreaming Festival, billed by its own website as "...a vibrant, exciting and a valuable destination where local, national and international audiences look forward to their annual ceremony time along with the most comprehensive showcase of Indigenous arts from across the country and around the world."

I promise to have pictures and a somewhat detailed account, depending on how much effort I can summon, which in all probability will be "not much at all." Wait, did I just promise to post "not much at all"? Hmmm, it appears I did and I'm staying true to form, which is bad form indeed.

Anywayzzzz, I have a new job! (I place this exclamation only to sound excited to you, reader; in reality I have known this for a while, being the person offered the new job) I guess this is only relevant to my internet buddies/readers, but people like Jeff might be remotely interested. I am working for a company that rhymes with jest, and jest I do not.

What other random thoughts do I have for you? If there is one thing most unpleasant about our current water restrictions and drought, it is this: water-less urinals. I simply do not trust them.

Water-less urinals? ARGGHH! (I think that everytime I use one)

On another note, have you ever pee-ed on a fly/insect thing that inhabits a urinal, only to have it fly up and into your face? Aye yes, you effectively pissed on your own face.

Inspiration, as of late

A FEW weeks ago I went with a group of OXFAMers to a "U2charist", an Eucharist with, as the name suggests, U2 songs instead of hymns. It was held at the Albany Creek Anglican Church and we met many nice people and listened to some nice renditions of U2's biggest hits.
The best was saved to last, though, as the priest (are they priests?) blessed the congregation with what I thought were some rather awesome blessings. Here they are:

"May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half-truths, superficial relationships, so that you will live deep within your heart.

"May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people, so that you will work for justice, equity and peace.

"May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation and war, so that you will reach out your hand to comfort them and change their pain to joy.

"And may God bless you with the foolishness to think that you can make a difference in the world, so that you will do the things which others tell you cannot be done."

As of late I've been struggling to find inspiration in things I do, but this has certainly helped.

PS: Ps 82:3-4 (I just had to use the abbreviations for post script and Psalm there)

Ahhh, another lovely Monday morning!

I never feel good when I wake up on Monday mornings. I always, always, feel like a castrated WWF wrestler. Anyway, today I experienced my first motor vehicle accident! Yay! Yay for Tango! Yay! I saw it coming, in my rear view mirror, as I slowed down to avoid a three car accident in front of me. Oh, the irony. The twisted pieces of metal and plastic. The irony. It would have been perfect my boot was full with irons, and one flung out and hit me in the back of the head. That would have been irony. Anyway, to cut a short story shorter: i slow down, car hits me from behind, we swap details, I call super-nice insurance lady who tells me everything will be just fine.
Lovely? Well, I have the possibility of the person who hit me disputing the events (although, let's see, dent and general smashed stuff in my back, dent and general smashed stuff in her front) in which case I presume I will be questioned again. But who would dispute my story? I'm a journalist, I don't exaggerate or report inaccurately... Which brings me onto deadlines, deadlines! Deadlines, I love deadlines, because they stop my natural compulsion to procrastinate (what better way to treat a life-long habit by engaging in a career that directly counters it?).
And yes, finally, the rain. The rain is such a beautiful thing. Even when we weren't in drought, and there was lots of rain , I always stopped to appreciate it. I would even have to say rain is my most favoured elemental aspect. Enough tripe talk. This morning, when I was gathering her details, it was lightly spitting on my notepad and I thought it was nice.

End of an era

I've known this for about two weeks now, but my much beloved all time-fav tv show Gilmore Girls will air its last episode on May 15.

I haven't blogged about such a pivotal event in my life before and I don't really know where to start, so I won't. My fingers are shakiinngg ass theeyy ttyppe. Okay, they're not really. But still. I'll post some thoughts later. And thus concludes my third short post in a row. Wait, I have a picture too that possibly hints at what happens in the last episode...

They make grown men squeal like little girls

The Black Keys . They make grown men squeal like little girls. That’s all there is to it. I wasn’t doing the squealing, some big buff surfie looking dudes were; I just stood and enjoyed the music (okay, I didn't squeal, I pee'd my pants. Just a little, I swear).
I took pictures on my mobile, but they didn't turn out too good. There goes my gonzo.

When it rains, I dream

LAST night I had the worst dream ever. Ever, as in, my whole life. I’m trying to describe this in one attempt, with no re-writing. I don’t really know what to say, except it was such a clear dream; I was there, in the crowd, watching the scene unfold. Strange. Stranger than the one that occurred to me when I was in year four (so I estimate), with Ronald McDonald chasing me around my house. That was a nightmare and it scared Tango version Year 4. Scared him into a cold sweat. This dream was not scary. It was bittersweet. Probably why it was the worst dream ever.
(and yes, it did rain last night, a strange night of consciousness)

Here is a chain email I received. Lame, I know eh? But, if all you readers just quickly did it (less than 3 minutes, fo sure!) and commented who you are, I'm sure we will all find it at least 1 per cent mutually interesting.

Everyone has a personality of a cartoon character. Have you ever asked yourself what cartoon character do you most resemble?

A group of investigators got together and analyzed the personalities of well known and modern cartoon characters.
The information that was gathered was made into this test.

Do not cheat by looking at the end of the e-mail before you are done. Then forward this to all your friends (including the person who sent it to you ) and change the subject of this message to what character is you.

It is very interesting to see "who" your friends are!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(10-16 points) You are Garfield :
You are very comfortable, easy going, and you definitely know how to have fun but sometimes you take it to an extreme. You always know what you are doing and you are always in control of your life. Others may not see things as you do, but that doesn't mean that you always have to do what is right. Try to remember, your happy spirit may hurt you or others.

(17-23 points) You are Snoopy:
You are fun, you are very cool and popular. You always know what's in and you are never are out of style You are good at knowing how to satisfy everyone else. You have probably disappeared for a few days more than once but you always come home with the family values that you learned Being married and having children are important to you, but only after you have had your share of fun times

(24-28 points) You are Elmo:
You have lots of friends and you are also popular, always willing to give advice and help out a person in need. You are very optimistic and you always see the bright side of things. Some good advice: try not to be too much of a dreamer. Dreaming too big could cause many conflicts in your life.

(29-35 points) You are Sponge Bob Square Pants:
You are the classic person that everyone loves. You are the best friend that any one could ever have and never wants to lose. You never cause harm to anyone and they would never not understand your feelings. Life is a journey, it's funny and calm for the most part. Stay away from traitors and jealous people, and you will be stress free.

(36-43 points) You are Charlie Brown:
You are tender, you fall in love quickly but you are also very serious about all relationships. You are a family person. You call your Mom every Sunday. You have many friends and may occasionally forget a few Birthdays. Don't let your passion confuse you with reality.

(44-50 points) You are Dexter:
You are smart and definitely a thinker... Every situation is fronted with a plan. You have a brilliant mind. You demonstrate very strong family principles. You maintain a stable routine but never ignore a bad situation when it comes. Try to do less over thinking every once in a while to spice things up a bit with spontaneity!
